Nice job! The whole song sounds pretty great and you're definitely getting better (I listened to a few of your older stuff ;) )
Just one little suggestion of mine would be to add just a tiny bit more background effects, so you would a nice multi-layered track, something like a mellow bass or something that blends in the background nice.
I like the way the song slowed down at 0:57 and got faster again brutally at 1:13, and the addition of the guitar after that sounded totally nice. A great job! You're going places, man! Keep on going :D

Dumami responds:

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate responses like this telling me what I should do! It's a relief, haha.

I'm really glad you liked the song, I will def think about including more background in other songs! Thanks a lot :)

This was a pretty unique song, not much like anything out there. The repetitive synth seemed a little out of place, but I respect your decision to experiment around.
It isn't exactly ambient, as the music is really straightforward, but if you're looking to give the song a more ambient feeling, you should try removing the synth, putting the halo drum a little more in the background, and adding some slow, progressive and calm synths on the top. That would sound nice.
If you're aiming for the more techno side of things though, you should try keeping the tracks fixed on a specific tempo, and add some beats.
Anyways, with a little practice you can make this better, so keep trying and you'll eventually get to higher places! We all start somewhere after all, right?
I'll check out a few other of your tracks soon and I'll tell you what I think, I'm interested in hearing more of your work ;D
Cheers.

Very nice and relaxing. Totally reminds me of Dead Man: if you didn't see that movie, shame on you ;o
No, I'm just kidding, but the music from Dead Man could inspire you to make more songs like these, definitely something to check out! Very post-rock-ish. Love it!
I also really like the singing background vocals, but there should be more.
Great song. It sure is nice to see people are still making songs like these (though I didn't really like the few sci-fi like sound effects during the whole song, but I'm guessing that's just your style ;D)
I'm eager to listen to more like these. Keep up the good work! :D

BAZmotherfucker responds:

Hahaha Dead Man, I love that movie :]
This was kind of thrown together for the sake of recording something, the "sci-fi" effects were all improvised on the spot with my kaossilator. And to be honest, I was kind of just flipping through different effects and playing with them, so some of the sounds in it were completely unintended. I'm still working on familiarizing myself with some of this equipment, but once I have more practice I'll come back to this style, probably with a little better taste next time. ;]

This is the stuff man. This is probably one of your best songs to date. No kidding!
I like the background ambience and the really light beat with a heavy & high pitched melody. The whole thing blends well ;D
Just one little thing I should mention (nothing about the song, it's great as it is) is the fact that this isn't really ambient. The song does have some ambient touches but overall it isn't (sorry ;o)
If you didn't know where else to put it, I know (Newgrounds doesn't have enough genre categories, too superficial :|)
Anyways, this song is great and I'm definitely eager to hear more from you. Keep going! ;D

Kingbastard responds:

Thanks man.
No apologies needed, if you don't think it's ambient then fair enough.

This was pretty nice! I like the way how all the tracks blend together and how they fade in/out, you did a pretty good job on that.
A few tips:
- I don't know if the off tempo parts was intentional, but it does sometimes sound strange. I would suggest sticking to the tempo if you're planning on making trance & techno songs. If it is intentional, maybe you did want to pass a meaning through it, but I would really suggest just sticking to the tempo at the start (once you'll get more experienced you could then try out more things, but in this case it did sound sometimes good, but sometimes strange)
- The strong beat at the start is a really good trance stereotype, it kinda made me laugh xD, but you should make it LOUDER! The beat is what we should hear the most. Also, I would recommend adding a little background beat to parts where there is only a main melody going on (ex around 1:00).

I'm guessing you're on a good start, so keep making more and you're definitely on your way! Keep making more! ;D

l-MaNTiS-l responds:

i actually didnt notice that till you mentioned no nothing should ever be offbeat ( as far as my percussion to melody) i will deffinetly fix that.

the beggining i really just didnt know what to add i did not want to make it just a kick maybe a toned down snare or something idk its my first song hahahah i wanted to get a good feel for my songs i wanted a nice flow to them from start to finished but these things will come in time

I greatly apprecite the constructive criticism as it will help improve my music! thanks again

It isn't exactly ambient; I guess it would fit more into the video game or techno categories, but nonetheless it sure is a great song. Some of the transitions between the tracks were a little quick, but that's something you could always keep in mind for your next songs (practice makes perfect! ;D), but apart from that everything else goes well together, so you did a nice job :D
I can picture this really well in a game or something.
Anyways, you get my respect. I'm eager to listen to more! Keep it up! ;D

Kaskrin responds:

Thanks man! I am releasing my album within the month. I wish for you to give it a listen! Oh and of course, this song will be on it hah

Pure.

Man... This song is pure. It really is pure. First off, I discovered it by playing Topple on The Game Homepage, and I just loved it, then I just found it on here. The way I love this song could never be expressed in words, images, any art whatsoever, but it's worth a try. It's just so fantastic and chilling that it's the PERFECT song you want to listen to when you're angry, when you want to bring your mind on something else, when you want to bring back good memories. It's a very unusual song to find on Newgrounds. For that fact, I want to thank you a whole bunch for sharing your work, for making me want to solve my problems.
Thank you.

Keep up the pureness, and please don't stop yet.

Epic song.

This song is fantastic. I like the little calm tune you hear in the intro. It fits the song really well.
The Hip-hop feeling you tried to reach for wasn't my favorite, but I guess I kinda finished up liking it. If you never heard of Zajed, you should try checking out his music, because this really reminds me of him. The way you mixed up the instruments sounded really professionnal, and last but not least, the title fits the song really well.
Keep making more of these as I am eager to hear more truly amazing songs from you.

tehpirateguy responds:

I agree with the hip hop descent. I'm thinking about going back and redoing the drums and remastering the violins a little so that they're not as prominent.

Thanks for the helpful review and I'm glad you like it. Ill definitely be checking out Zadej.

This song...

... is the best I've heard in a week! Hey man, do you mind if I use it in a game? This was one of the greatest songs around and this is really the kind of thing I was looking for. If you're ok well please respond. I would be more than glad to use this in my submission.
Hey, you should go check out some of my newest tracks, because they havn't got any review and/or much ratings.

Great song!

Wow man! All of these songs are great! You're good at making music. I was wondering... Do you make any ambience songs? I really like those so I though if you made any they could be cool. Well anyway nice songs, and keep up the good work.

hopeku responds:

Well, it depends what kind of ambient song you are seeking for, but yep I made some. But it's nothing as good as this thought!

Thanks by the way ;)
